The 2012 U.S. Open Golf Championship will be played at the historic Olympic Club, located in San Francisco, California. The Championship will be held June 14-17, 2012. Four previous U.S. Open golf championships have been hosted at this venue. They were in 1955, 1966, 1987 and 1998. This event presents golfers around the world with the opportunity to see the world's best professionals compete on this classic stage, and to play some of the nation’s finest public courses including Pasatiempo Golf Club, CordeValle, Pebble Beach, and Spyglass Hill.
Flight information: Olympic Club is approximately 15 minutes from San Francisco International Airport (SFO), connections are available from most major U.S. cities. As an alternative, you may fly into San Jose International Airport (SJC) or Oakland International (OAK). These airports are approximately 30-45 minutes from Olympic Club, and give golfers easy access to Pasatiempo and surrounding courses
Pasatiempo Golf Club: Ranked #11 in Golf Magazines Greatest 100 Public Courses list and #55 on its Top 100 Courses in the Country list, Pasatiempo was the home course for famed architect Alister MacKenzie. You've heard about MacKenzie's other courses -- Augusta National, Cypress Point, Royal Melbourne, to name a few -- but Pasatiempo was his favorite course. This semi-private course opened in 1929, and it offers limited public times. The course is just 55 minutes from Olympic Club, an hour from Pebble Beach and is located conveniently just off of Hwy 17 and 1. Pasatiempo is 30 minutes from San Jose airport or an hour from San Francisco airport, and right on the way to Pebble Beach.
Cordevalle Resort: Cordevalle is a semi-private club and resort located in San Martin, CA, approximately an hour from Olympic Club. It's a luxury facility with beautiful private villas, a fitness center, pool and many amenities, and it has been recognized as a top golf resort by Conde Nast. The course is host to the 2011 PGA TOUR FRYS.Com Open and will host a USGA Championship in 2013.
Spyglass Hill: Ranked #9 in Golf Magazines Greatest 100 Public Courses list, and #48 on its Top 100 Courses in the country list, Spyglass Hill is a Robert Trent Jones Sr. classic that lies between Cypress Point and Pebble Beach. The tour pros who play this course during the AT&T cite it as one of the toughest courses they play, and you'll love the holes that roll along the seaside dunes and through towering pines. If you aren't staying on the Pebble Beach resort, you'll have to make your tee time 30 days in advance. The course is conveniently located just minutes from Pebble Beach golf course.
